Ways in which my media product uses, develops or challenges forms and conventions of real media products?

My media product uses many conventions of a real media product. By using a house style of black, white and red, it made the magazine available to a range of audiences, whilst meeting my target audience of 14-18 year old girls. The image that I used is of a girl around this age which makes the audience feel as though they can relate to her and will therefore be more likely to buy the magazine. Whilst looking at real media products, I noticed that the most popular way to advertise the stories which would be featured inside the magazine was on the side. I therefore decied to use this approach, although it wouldnt make my magazine stand out from others, i found it fitted in with making my magazine look professional. As my magazine is a music magazine, I found it sensible to make sure all of my stories were music related. I used artists that my target audience would recognize making the magazine more likely to be purchased by them. I also included competitions which were more than likely going to make people want to buy the magazine. BY using a medium shot, it give the people a clear view of the model and her age.
